Before moving to the UK in 2005, Shaun worked as a professional singer throughout New Zealand performing regularly in concert, opera, and for Television which was launched by being the viewers choice winner of the TV series Showcase . He has a BMus from Auckland University and also studied at the National Opera Studio in London and has a PGDip (Opera) from the Royal College of Music.

Shaun had the rare opportunity of studying privately with the late Luciano Pavarotti in Pesaro, Italy where he was a guest of the Maestro’s household and travelled internationally as part of his entourage in 2000.

Since being in the UK, Shaun has appeared with some of the foremost companies and orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic , Welsh National Opera, English National Opera and Scottish Opera

Opera roles include:
Rodolfo in La Boheme, Alfredo in La Traviata and the Duke Rigoletto for Welsh National Opera, Der Steuermann in Der Fliegende Holländer and Rodolfo in La Boheme for New Zealand Opera, Carmen in Don Jose for Zomeropera Belgium, Des Grieux Manon (Opera Unwrapped) Scottish Opera, Tenor in Gogmagog (English National Opera Commission) , Lensky in Eugene Onegin (Stanley Hall Opera, BYO), Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly , Radames in Aida , Cavaradossi in Tosca ( Opéra de Baugé , France) , Gonzalve L’Heure Espagnole, Alfred Die Fledermaus (RCM) , Fréderic Lakme (Canterbury Opera) , Borsa Rigoletto (NBR NZOpera), Arbace in Idomeneo (Auckland Opera Studio) , Bellarmino Galileo ( Auckland University) , Nirenus Giulio Cesare (Auckland City Opera).

Oratorio includes:
Gounods' Messe Solennelle, Dvoraks' Stabat Mater, Verdis’ Requiem, Handels’ Messiah, Haydns' Seasons, Puccinis’ Messa di Gloria, Mendelssohns’ Elijah, Beethovens’ 9th Symphony , Coleridge-Taylors’ Hiawatha, Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passion, Schubert’s Mass in G, Beethoven’s Mass in C and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem.

He has partnered crossover artist Hayley Westenra on record and has regularly accompanied her in concert since 2001. He is the featured soloist for the sound track to the movie ‘No.2’ (a winner at the Sundance film festival in 2006) and also featured in London Film Festival 2007. Shaun made his debut with BBC television in the reality programme ‘Maestro’ and has also appeared on BBC3 Radio ‘In Tune’.
